Maldar Vice-Chancellor SELF STUDY REPORT FOR FIRST CYCLE OF ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATIONÄ£ CONTENTS Sr.No. The significant contribution made by the University is the result of sustained and dedicated efforts of all the stake holders-members of the Senate, Management Council, Academic Council, Faculty, Administrative Staff, Alumni and Students of the Solapur University. NSS activities - a brand ambassador of University and many other related activities leaves no stone unturned for resource building. A social responsibility such as village adoption for natural resource development has over 100 beneficiaries. Further, consultancy revenue generated by the academic schools and University Instrumentation Centre is to the tune of Rs lakhs. Solapur University has made a significant contribution over past few years in research projects with an outlay of Rs lakhs, research publications of 576 in peer referred journals, monographs 6, chapters in books 3, books edited 1, average citation index of 236, total citations 6363, impact factor between 0 to 5.54 and h-index range from 0 to 22 is worth mentioning. The e-governance has improved Checks and Balances in functioning using wisdom of all the stakeholders. The University is declared Digital University in 2006 for seamless and transparent governance. Additionally, over 32 job oriented certificate courses are rendered to the pupil. Solapur University has five schools, 19 post graduate courses and equal number of research programs. The gross enrolment from the catchment is over students with a human development index of The figures make the University manageable and hence can play a role model in the domain of higher education of our country. The district with a population of 43,17,756 as per 2011 census has 119 affiliated colleges catering to the needs of the youth desiring to pursue higher education. The University is Small and Smart and has its jurisdiction limited to only one unitary district-solapur. Solapur University set up in 2004 has distinguished itself as one of the young and dynamic Universities at the threshold of its decennial celebrations. The inter-relationship is, however, tenuous and complex because a number of quality variables are involved, each of which is influenced by socio-economic progression and technological development. Thus, there is a close relationship between higher education, employment and national economy. ![]() ![]() Developmental activities require, apart from adequate financial resources, a strong workforce of skilled personnel which is invariably the product of quality education. 2 PREFACE It is universally recognized that a well developed and broad-based higher education system is necessary for accelerated national development which, in turn, is essential for improving national economy.
